The Padre’s Ponderings — As I See It: Dallas, St. Paul, Baton Rouge, Orlando …

It is less than a month since the horrible Orlando massacre of 49 people and wounding of many others and again we face the truth of how gun violence, prejudice, and hatred make for a lethal combination that tears at the fabric of all that is good in God’s creation.
Columbine — Aurora — Blacksburg — Miami — Sandy Hook — Ferguson — Charleston — Paris — Orlando —
Baton Rouge — St. Paul — Dallas.
“When will it end,” a friend messaged me on FaceBook. I have no answers. All I have to offer is the hope that love will conquer in the end because it is of God and there is no power or force or weapon stronger than God’s love.
And I can offer the safety, serenity, and comfort of this church and the support of each of us who struggle together to make sense of these atrocious and senseless killings.
If you are not away this weekend, why not make the commitment to worship with us on Sundayand pray with the community gathered here for an end to violence and for the triumph of justice and peace. And, if you are vacationing, perhaps you might take a few minutes on Sunday morning to join with us in spirit.
Prayer matters. We all matter in God’s economy.
