Sherrie Beke – Stewardship

Bow down thy ear O Lord hear me: for I am poor and needy. Psalm 86
We belong and we are loved.
When our grandson Phoenix was born he came too early and was very very ill. Our family gathered together to support and comfort each other. We prayed – a lot And we hoped. Up and down I95 to Yale New Haven’s NICU.
Exhausted, we knew we needed more help – bigger help.
We were relatively new members of St. Paul’s and not terribly involved at that time. I recall phoning the church office and speaking with Mother Donna. I told her what we were facing – I said we needed help.
An outpouring followed. Phone calls from parishioners asking what they could do, Phoenix’s’ name was added to a prayer list, blankets were crocheted and hospital visits from the clergy made the time much easier. The incredible sense of being beloved was evident, generosity at its best.
After several months Phoenix was discharged home. He is now a healthy, strong eighteen year old.
This journey was made so much more bearable because of St. Paul’s on the Green.
So, please be generous.
Thank you,
Sherrie Beke
