Juneteenth Celebration

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Norwalk on the Green will celebrate Juneteenth with an afternoon of music, film, games, book selling and delicious food. This will be a tribute both to Freedom Day-the day the enslaved in Galveston Texas were told that the institution of slavery had ended –  two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed- as well as to the celebration of what freedom continues to mean not only to African Americans and their descendants, but to the American nation as a whole. All are invited to the celebration which will begin at 12:30 pm with a potluck lunch –  bring  favorite dish from your heritage and join the the fun!  Kindred Thoughts booksellers will also be on hand with a wonderful selection of books for sale.
